Frequently Asked Questions

During the interview you can expect to be asked questions such as:

Q: Tell me about yourself

A: The interviewer is asking about you as a person, not simply a collection of skills. Mention special achievements outside work and interests (which they may share) and mutual acquaintances if there are some. Keep your answer to one or two minutes, don't ramble. Cover four segments ie early years, education, work experience, recent times (with an accent on the latter).

Q: Why do you want to work here?

A: The good reputation the company has and the challenges it will provide.

Q: What do you know about our company?

A: Know products and services, markets, size, reputation, image, goals, problems and future possible directions

Q: Please give me your definition of a ……(the position for which you are being interviewed)

A: Keep it brief. Keep it task orientated ie "responsible for", "accountable for"

Q: What are your strong points?

A: List at least three

Q: What are your weak points?

A: Don't say that you have none. Turn a negative into a positive answer ie "I am sometimes impatient and I get too deeply involved when running late"

Some questions which you may wish to ask:

  1. Is there a detailed description of the position available?
  2. Reason the position is available
  3. Anticipated induction and training program?
  4. Company growth plans?
  5. What opportunities are there for advancement?
